Intro

This blog set up in anticipation of my travels which will take me right around Australia in my campervan.  The van is a Toyota HiAce poptop and has been tested with trips around S Qld.  It originally had a small car battery for the house battery and wasn't suitable for more than one night free camping.  I've upgraded to two 105AH AGM deep cycle batteries and a 100W portable solar panel, which were tested and should give me 5-7 nights free camping - as long as there is sun.

Since returning to Tasmania in November I have added a Morningstar Pro-Star solar controller, a circuit breaker/switch to turn off the house batteries and an accessible fuse panel (the previous fuses were in the battery box under the seat).  I also relocated the batteries to better utilise space under the seat, and as a result had to relocate much of the wiring as well:  Some lighter wires (E.g. fridge) were replaced with heavier wires to reduce resistance losses.

I intend setting off from Brisbane in end-March/early April, depending on circumstances.  A web album (attached) can be viewed by clicking the link at the top.
